Caption The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has acquired a pair of the iconic ruby slippers from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Leonardo DiCaprio is helping turn the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences into the Land of Oz.The actor and activist recently helped the Academy Foundation acquire a pair of Dorothy’s ruby slippers from “The Wizard of Oz,” it was revealed on Wednesday.Funding for the slippers came from the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, as well as donations from Steven Spielberg and co-chair of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Terry Semel.“The ruby slippers occupy an extraordinary place in the hearts of movie audiences the world over,” Bob Iger, president and CEO of the Walt Disney Co. and chair of the capital campaign for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, said in a statement. “This is a transformative acquisition for our collection.”The slippers acquired by the foundation, known as the “Witch’s Shoes” are reportedly in the best condition of the four pairs known to be in existence.According to a release from the Academy, they pair are suspected to be shoes “Wizard of Oz” star Judy Garland wore when Dorothy clicks her heels to return to Kansas.A magical piece of Hollywood history, Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said the Foundation was thrilled Leo helped them acquire the shoes.“Leo’s passionate leadership has helped us bring home this legendary piece of movie history,” Hudson said in a statement. “It’s a wonderful gift to the Academy museum project, and a perfect representation of the work we do year-round to preserve and share our film heritage.”The shoes are expected to eventually be a part of the upcoming Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which is in development with LACMA.

But, in an exclusive, sit down interview with Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson, the “American Idol” shared some of her most memorable off-camera moments with the late superstar.“One thing folks didn’t realize about her was her sense of humor, that she was really funny. Tell me one of the funniest things that you remember about her or something she said to you,” Shaun asked.“We did. There was a moment where…. she was blasting gospel [on her iPod] and then for me, sometimes I would put it on and [she said], ‘Teach me how to Dougie!’” Jordin said of Whitney’s request that the former “Idol” winner show her some dance moves.“[There was] one night where we were all just waiting for the camera change and we’re all upstairs and I put it on and we start moving and we’re getting up and Whitney’s like, ‘OK,’ and she starts Dougie-ing and we’re all Dougie-ing. It was this crazy moment and it was just so funny,” Jordin recounted.“Was she good at it?” Shaun asked.“She was, she was very good… It was just so funny and it was it was a kind of crazy, out of body experience because I’m looking at her going, ‘This is Whitney Houston,’ you know, regal, Whitney, and here she is just getting down and it was awesome,” Jordin said. “It was amazing.”Jordin said she was “awestruck” often on the “Sparkle” set.“Even after filming for a couple of weeks I was still just in that awestruck stage at moments. But, we’ll have to discuss that.”And with another project about the adult film star already in the works – “Lovelace” starring Amanda Seyfried – Malin told Billy and Kit that she’s itching to get her project going.“We’re still waiting on the financing to come in, so hopefully it will come soon. And one is already done. We gotta hurry up,” she said.When the project does get the go-ahead, Malin will be ready for the challenges of the role.“I am ready to roll, absolutely,” the actress continued. “It’s a very dark story of her life as an abused woman and it will be a dark place to go into, but I’m looking forward to it.”“Wanderlust” opens on February 24.
